Ahead of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, team members from Naka Power Utilities (NWT) came together in Yellowknife on September 25 for a walk from Somba K’e Civic Plaza to the Legislative Building.  

The walk provided an opportunity to come together and reflect on the importance of truth and reconciliation.

As a majority Indigenous-owned company, Naka Power Utilities (NWT) recognizes the importance of creating opportunities to listen, learn and reflect on the history and experiences of Indigenous Peoples. The walk was organized as an opportunity for employees to come together and advance the spirit of truth and reconciliation.  

As we approach September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation provides an opportunity to honour Survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and their families and communities, while reflecting on the ongoing work of reconciliation. 

Reconciliation is not limited to a single day or event. It is an ongoing journey that requires listening, learning, and meaningful action. Opportunities to come together and reflect are one part of continuing that journey.
